Adria Village was established by the Croatian community of Canberra and Queanbeyan. Its official opening in 1994 was the result of years of voluntary work undertaken by members of the local Croatian community, both in the administration and building of the Village.
Until 2006, the Village was called Croatian Village. Croatian Village Limited (established in 1989) is the approved service provider and its board consists of local volunteers. The company is a not for profit organization limited by guarantee.
The name “Adria” is derived from the Adriatic Sea which is located between Croatia and Italy. The coastal region of Croatia is renowned for its unique landscape, islands and rich history.
Adria Village is located in the Canberra suburb of Stirling and offers low and high level residential care for 42 residents. The Village also contains 36 independent living units.
Adria Village provides support and assistance to enable residents to live in a comfortable and secure environment. Our staff encourage individuality, independence and support residents to take an active interest in the participation and development of a broader range of cultural, social and religious activities within Adria Village.
Our aim is to provide a caring, safe, homelike atmosphere, reflecting your rights to dignity, respect, privacy, safety and the best quality of life.
