OUT OF THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE BUT STILL BURSTING WITH SERVICES AND ATTRACTIONS
Pakenham is a growing satellite suburb of Melbourne, only around 50 km from the CBD. It’s a very attractive location not only for people looking for retirement living, but also for families with kids and for professionals.
The town is on the main railway line between Melbourne and Gippsland, and offers more affordable housing than Melbourne. It has good shops and markets, and is a relatively short drive away from populous cities and shopping centres.
One of Pakenham’s favourite spots is Lakeside Recreation Reserve. It has a beautiful lake with fish and ducks, BBQs, toilets, a cultural centre and cafe, and a fantastic pathway to walk around the lake.
During your retirement years it’s important to be located in an area offering good services for senior citizens. Pakenham does just that, with a Senior Citizens Centre that organises social activities and events, and a Pakenham Community Health Centre. The construction of the Pakenham Community Hospital will start in 2022. It will be a public hospital providing a wide range of useful services, like chronic disease management, specialist medical appointments and urgent care.
