DISCOVER A REGION WITH QUALITY AGRICULTURAL PRODUCE AND FINE WINES
The Central West is a rich agricultural region of New South Wales that starts west of Sydney, on the western side of the popular Blue Mountains. It comprises 11 local government areas and some of its main population centres are Bathurst, Lithgow, Cowra, Orange, Parkes and Mudgee.
It’s an attractive alternative for retirees looking for a place to live. It has a diverse economy, plenty of natural attractions, great agricultural produce and a renowned food and wine scene.
Places like Bathurst offer great opportunities to enjoy a healthy and active retirement. Its council supports a program for over 65s that includes free health seminars, courses and physical activities. The town also has beautiful historic gardens, some of them located on the banks of the Macquarie River.
Other interesting towns are Mudgee and Orange. Mudgee has great local breweries, colonial buildings and lush rainforest areas, while Orange prides itself on its inclusive community and stress-free lifestyle.
The local health district of Western NSW coordinates the health services for the communities in the region. You can find many public hospitals in the Central West, including in the towns of Bathurst, Cowra, Mudgee, Parkes and Orange.
