Tweed Heads is an attractive alternative for retirees looking for a place to live. It’s a NSW town with a great location bordering Queensland, next to its twin town Coolangatta, in the Gold Coast. You can go on a rainforest river cruise, hire a houseboat to discover the safe waterways, swim, spot dolphins and whales, and go deep-sea fishing. There are many associations that offer recreation for seniors. The Twin Towns Seniors Social Club organises day trips, the Twin Towns Friends Association has volunteers that keep seniors company if they’re lonely, and the Men’s Shed is a great place to try woodwork and learn about computers.

The Tweed Hospital provides a range of healthcare services, and the NSW Government is investing more than $600 million in a new, modern hospital: the Tweed Valley Hospital, which will be inaugurated in 2023.
