A new retirement community is coming to Sydney’s booming North-West region, in a move which is expected to help alleviate a current market under-supply.
National retirement living operator Living Choice has confirmed it had purchased a 2.97 hectare site at Dural with a planning approval in place.
At the site, Living Choice plans to build 91 independent living apartments and a boutique 66-bed aged care facility. Although a construction start date has not been set, it’s understood Living Choice is keen to begin work on the apartments as soon as possible.
Living Choice Dural will be the company’s third retirement community in the region, adding to its existing site at Glenhaven in the Hills Shire and a proposed future project at Galston, which is scheduled to start construction this year.
Living Choice Director Ian Tregoning said the village’s location - close to shops, hospitals and transport nodes – would be an attractive option for retirees wanting to remain in the area.
“At Living Choice Glenhaven, there is a waiting list for more than 140 villas and most are from the local area,” he said.
“Living Choice is all about offering “choice” and we’ll be offering apartments at Dural, which are set to take luxury retirement living to another level. The signature designs and leisure facilities will be exceptional.”
The site is located at 3 Quarry Road and 4 Vineys Road, Dural.
The Living Choice portfolio currently includes ten operating retirement villages in NSW, Queensland and South Australia plus two further retirement communities which will commence construction shortly.
Obtaining planning approvals for new retirement living projects in Sydney’s North West has not been helped by a NSW Government decision to extend a current ban on seniors housing in rural land fringing the metropolitan area.
