Construction is expected to begin early next year on a new 88-dwelling North-West Sydney retirement living project, which will have a luxury leisure centre including a surround-sound cinema and indoor heated pool.
National retirement living operator Living Choice today announced that, following a five-year wait, it had secured planning approval for its Galston project.
This came just one week after it announced it had purchased a 2.97 hectare site at nearby Dural, where a planning approval is in place to build 91 independent living apartments and a boutique 66-bed aged care facility.
The Galston project will include 40 two and three-bedroom villas, 48 one, two and three-bedroom apartments and a leisure centre.
Living Choice regional manager Gail Eyres said she was delighted that work could now start on finalising the engineering, electrical and civil drawings, calling for tenders and obtaining all the necessary building approvals.
“If all goes according to plan, we hope to start construction in the first quarter of 2022 with the first villas ready to move into by the end of 2022. Prices will be determined when construction starts,” she said.
Stage 1 will include all the internal roads, followed by the construction of nine villas and a leisure centre which includes four apartments.
Ms Eyres said the leisure centre would be “world-class”.
It will include a grand foyer, large auditorium and stage, surround sound cinema, lounge, billiards area, indoor heated pool and spa, alfresco area, residents’ bar and kitchen, hair/beauty salon and gymnasium,” she said.
“On the first floor there will be a large library, art and craft studio and medical and wellness rooms.
“There will also be extensive outdoor areas, including a putting green, bocce court, BBQ area and terrace garden.
“Many people in the local community have already expressed an interest in Living Choice Galston. If we cannot have an information session in person, we will arrange a ‘virtual event’ in November, when the villa and apartment plans will be released.”
Living Choice Galston will be Living Choice’s third village in the Hornsby & Hills Shire Council areas. While Living Choice Glenhaven was established in 2004, and has a long waiting list, Living Choice Dural – which will comprise apartments only – was only announced last week.
