A Sutherland Shire couple has snapped up a $4.4 million waterfront retirement village apartment penthouse - some two years before its completion.
The apartment’s sale illustrates the growing potential of ‘ultra luxury’ seniors living projects in the current boom housing market.
The 300 square metre three-bedroom penthouse will have two bathrooms, a powder room, an entertainers kitchen with butler’s pantry, an oversized living area and an internal laundry.
Around a third of the apartment’s floor-space will be located on its three external balconies, one of which is designed for entertaining and captures stunning views over Woolooware Bay.
The penthouse was sold in record first week of pre-sales for the Waterfront precinct at Anglicare’s Woolooware Shores Retirement Village in Taren Point.
Anglicare reported that 40 per cent of residences in the Waterfront were sold before the project’s launch to the general public.
Dean Cotter, Anglicare Development Manager, said the interest demonstrates a desire within the retirement sector for premium waterfront living.

The Waterfront includes 63 premium waterfront apartments across two buildings with open plan layouts, space for entertaining and sweeping water views. Just one penthouse apartment is still available for sale.
Built in partnership with Growthbuilt, the development is due for completion in 2023, and will feature new community spaces, including extensive landscaping and a café for future residents and their families to enjoy.
Residents will also have access to a theatre, salon, gym, pool, spa, restaurants, café, library and chapel.
Woolooware Shores launched in 2006 is currently home to 243 residents and has residential aged care homes, Goodhew Gardens and Bay Breeze onsite for ‘aging in place’.
