Australians aged over 50 who are ready to downsize are now able to access their own personal concierge service to help tackle once-complicated tasks such as selling their home, decluttering, cleaning and moving.
Australia’s leading over 50s property portal, Downsizing.com.au, has come together with Homesuite, which provides Australia’s first curated suite of downsizing services, to launch the Downsizing Concierge initiative.
The Downsizing Concierge initiative represents Australia’s first complete tailored ‘one stop shop’ retirement and downsizing support service, helping older Australians to both find their dream home and then make the move.
Downsizing.com.au provides listings of downsizing-friendly properties across Australia, including retirement villages, land lease communities and apartments.
Once downsizers have found their dream home on Downsizing.com.au, they will be able to reach out to the Downsizing Concierge service.
This service will provide general advice to downsizers and put them in contact with a range of experts, including buying and selling agents, property valuers, handypeople, financial advisors, removalists, conveyancers and cleaners.
Downsizers will also be able to learn what their existing property may be worth.
With around one in four homeowners planning to downsize in the next five years, the Downsizing Concierge service is expected to be extremely popular.
Karim Belcaid, Chief Operating Officer, Homesuite said: “We are excited to collaborate with Downsizing.com.au so we can now offer its clients an exceptional home transition experience.”
This unique partnership allows us to combine smart technology with a human touch, taking the stress out of buying, selling and moving, so clients can focus on enjoying their new lifestyle.
“Research has told us downsizing is a stressful journey so working with a professional service like Homesuite can help guide the way and make it a more pleasurable experience.
“Downsizing Concierge will become Australia’s first one-stop-shop for clients looking for a lifestyle change, village operators and developers alike.
"Our aim is to help make this time of transition easier, smoother and more efficient for all involved.
“With the two leading players in our respective fields working together this collaboration will be a ‘game-changer’ for the downsizing sector.”
Amanda Graham, CEO, Downsizing.com.au said: “There are more than eight million people in Australia aged over 50, who are considering their future options."
"We know that more than 1.6 million Australian households have already decided to downsize over the next five years.
"However many of these people are likely to be overwhelmed by the complexity of the process, leading to deferring or delaying their decision to move house, if it all seems too hard.
“This new service will offer help in a very practical way.
"There are many issues to consider when downsizing, including sale of the family home, making important future financial decisions affecting retirement income, as well as sorting through a lifetime’s worth of belongings in the family home.
This new concierge service will fill a vital gap, providing referrals to the services needed and in doing so removing these barriers to decision-making - and helping to get more of our consumers into their dream property sooner.
“We are extremely pleased to partner with Homesuite on this new service.”
