Living Choice, owned by Adelaide businessmen, Graham Hobbs and Ian Tregoning, is expanding its footprint in the seniors’ living space with the announcement that its first over-50s lifestyle community, located in Mount Barker, has received planning approval.
Positioned adjacent to Glenlea Residential Estate, Living Choice Mount Barker will occupy a 9.8ha parcel of land between Evergreen Avenue and Paech Road, extending to the southern end of Glenlea Boulevard. It will comprise 215 two and three-bedroom homes and a Country Club offering a range of premier facilities.
Planning Approval was granted on 20th July 2022 and now it’s full steam ahead with the working drawings, followed by earthworks and the commencement of home construction in early 2023. Group General Manager, Jason Sack, said he expected that the homes would be in high demand. “The location is excellent – just 4.8kms away from the centre of Mount Barker and only 33km from the Adelaide CBD. The Adelaide Hills is also renowned for its many attractions, including wineries, breweries, distilleries, shopping, markets and farm experiences,” he said.
“Mount Barker is expanding rapidly, with numerous sporting and recreational facilities under construction and planning is well-advanced on a new town centre. The area has not lost its country charm, however,” he added.
Mr Sack said Living Choice was well-known in the retirement industry for its well-designed and built homes, excellent leisure facilities and responsive management.

Graham Hobbs and Ian Tregoning own 10 premium operating retirement villages in three states, numerous hotels in SA and QLD and two large residential developments on the Sunshine Coast. They also have three more retirement villages in the pipeline – at Parkwood on the Gold Coast plus Galston and Dural in Sydney. This will be their first over-50’s lifestyle community.
