Aveo Newstead has added à la carte dining to its lifestyle attractions with the opening of its new on- site restaurant, Lancaster.
More than 200 residents, guests and staff took part in the restaurant’s official opening celebrations, which included a special tasting evening, jazz band and photo booth.
The luxury 19-storey vertical retirement village is located in the heart of Brisbane's inner-city Gasworks precinct, offering residents a vibrant location with stunning city and river views.
The Lancaster’s Head Chef, Desiree McKee, has an illustrious 30-year career in hospitality, starting with her apprenticeship in South Africa. She has owned two cafés, a Noosa catering business, worked on super yachts, exclusive holiday islands and as a private chef for high-profile clients.
Desiree says the amazing new kitchen, and vibrant community, drew her to Aveo Newstead. “It’s just the most gorgeous space,’’ she says.
“The restaurant is set in a stunning part of Aveo Newstead with views of the city, a grand piano and the incredible kitchen.
“The dining experience of our residents and their guests will be enhanced by fresh flowers, sophisticated service, fabulous food and the wines I love from my travels.
“Our residents have acquired a taste for fine dining, so with my experience I know how to cater to their needs.
“I love working with fresh local produce to create flavourful dishes that also look beautiful.
“The menu includes fresh seafood, lobster, sashimi, eye fillet, handmade pasta, pate, tarts, ice creams and sorbets made in our kitchen. Daily specials such as a prawn and lobster linguine are amazing.’’
Desiree also provides catering support for private resident events and celebrations with family and friends. The private dining room, located on Level 19, captures sweeping views across Newstead, New Farm and the Brisbane CBD and is regularly booked by residents for hosting their gatherings.
The Lancaster will be open to residents and their guests at 50 Longland Street, Newstead, serving lunch on Tuesday to Saturday from 11.30am-1.30pm and dinner Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, from 5.30pm-7.30pm.
