RetireAustralia’s Jodie Shelley has been crowned as the 2024 Programmed NSW/ACT Village Manager of the Year at a Property Council of NSW industry event.
Shelley now goes into the running, along with four others, for the national Programmed Award for Village Manager of the Year, with the winner to be announced at the National Retirement Living Awards in June.
Shelley, who manages Tarragal Glen Retirement Village in Erina on the NSW Central Coast, said she was over the moon to win the award, while also congratulating her fellow finalist, Bolton Clarke’s Belinda Mead.
“I’ve been involved as a village manager for 12 years and have attended a lot of events with village managers from across the state, and with the calibre of people we have running our villages, to win this award is an absolute honour,” Shelley said.
“Three years ago I was given the opportunity to go and work for RetireAustralia and I have to say it is the best decision I have ever made.
“For a company to trust me, support me and encourage me the way they do is the reason I am standing here today.
“I don’t know what I would do without the other New South Wales village managers, every day we are on the phone to each other communicating, chatting, and supporting each other. Our sales team are also great, I love them all.
“A big thank you to my wonderful staff and residents, it is an absolute pleasure to come to work every day. I love my village and I love my residents,” she said.
Retirement Living Council Executive Director Daniel Gannon the retirement living industry is turbo-charged with talent, including dedicated village managers like Shelley.
“These industry awards recognise the ‘best of the best’ and those who make a conscious decision every day to improve the lives of seniors in New South Wales and the ACT,” Mr Gannon said.
“It is important to celebrate these wonderful people who power this sector forward every day, while showcasing industry’s commitment to customers, excellence, and innovation.
“To Jodie and our other state award winners, we extend our congratulations and wish you the best of luck at the National Retirement Living Awards in June on the Gold Coast,” he said.
