Vasey RSL Care is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $50,000 under the Allan Labor Government Veteran Capital Works Grants Program. This funding will support the Vasey RSL Care "Renewed Hope Accommodation Program for Veterans (Phase One)," which will refurbish ex-service accommodation units located in Cheltenham, Victoria.
The Veteran Capital Works funding stream provides grants ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 to assist not-for-profit organisations in building and facility improvement projects that benefit veterans, their families, and communities. Vasey RSL Care's project will focus on upgrading units that are currently in need of significant improvements to make them livable, improve their cost-effectiveness to operate, and ensure they are suited to the needs of their occupants.
The refurbishment project will create a contemporary environment that aligns with current expectations, while also prioritising sustainability and improved comfort. Local tradespeople will be engaged to carry out the renovations, ensuring community involvement and support.
"We appreciate the Victorian Government's support in our mission to assist and house veterans across the state," said Acting Chief Executive Officer, Tamara Paton.
"This funding is instrumental in helping us provide a safe, comfortable and sustainable living environment for those who have served our country."
"This initiative is a tremendous boost for ex-service organisations like ours, enabling us to meet the evolving needs of the veteran community. We look forward to commencing this project later this year and witnessing the positive impact it will have on our veterans' lives,” Ms Paton added.
