Residents of Aveo’s Minkara Resort Retirement Living on Sydney’s Northern Beaches have celebrated the reopening of their community centre after its transformation into a modern and inviting open space.
The $1.5 million, 16-month refurbishment of the ‘Leisure Centre’ is part of Aveo’s extensive capital works program under way across several of its New South Wales communities.
Residents and guests, including local Councillor Mandeep (Sunny) Singh, attended a gala event at the Bayview community to mark the centre’s grand re-opening this week.
The expansive refurbishment includes a new reception area, boardroom, beautifully appointed residents’ lounge with grand piano, a bar, café, recreation rooms with billiards tables, indoor pool, gym, salon and library.
Minkara Resort’s Community Manager Darrell Priestland said the Leisure Centre had already reclaimed its place as the heart and soul of the tight-knit community.
“The stunning spaces provide areas where residents come together to socialise and take part in activities, and they can’t wait to share all the new features with their family and friends,’’ Mr Priestland said.
Minkara Resort is set over 12 hectares with sweeping ocean and bushland views, is home to more than 200 residents who live in 159 independent living villas and 43 apartments with services.
Resident Cathie Costello, who has lived at Minkara Resort for 10 years, has been looking forward to the official unveiling of the new Leisure Centre and the positive impact it will have on the community.
“My first impression of the new space was ‘Wow, this is fantastic’. The design and colour schemes are modern and fresh, and provide a lovely feeling of peace and calm. I never imagined it would end up being so beautiful. I love it,’’ Mrs Costello said.
“The response from the other residents has been overwhelmingly positive. There are so many lovely touches incorporated into the design. Aveo has done an amazing job.’’
Conveniently located with nearby shops, transport and lifestyle amenities, residents enjoy access to the area’s sought-after beaches, cafés and restaurants, the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and Bayview Golf Club.
Minkara Resort is located at 10 Minkara Road, Bayview, 45 minutes from Sydney’s CBD, with a selection of one to three-bedroom apartments ranging from $252,000 to $1,175,000*
