Aveo scooped the pool last night when two key staff were named NSW Village Manager of the Year and NSW Sales Manager of the Year.
The 2025 awards were announced at the Property Council of Australia’s NSW Retirement Outlook event held in Sydney on Thursday night.
Melinda Akehurst from Aveo’s Bayview Gardens retirement living community at Bayview on Sydney’s Northern Beaches said she was thrilled to be named the state’s Village Manager of the Year.
“Bayview Gardens is a close-knit community despite being home to 312 residents. It is a privilege to serve our wonderful residents as their Village Manager and support them to live life well,’’ Ms Akehurst said. “I am grateful to the incredibly dedicated team who work beside me every day.”
Aveo’s State Manager, Mohamed Hage-Hassan, congratulated Ms Akehurst describing her “as an outstanding leader with an unwavering commitment to residents and staff’’.
Matthew Cunneen was named NSW’s Sales Manager of the Year. Mr Cunneen manages Aveo’s largest portfolio on the Northern Beaches region overseeing sales at Pittwater Palms at Avalon Beach, and two communities at Bayview, Minkara Resort and Bayview Gardens.
Ms Akehurst and Mr Cuneeen are now state finalists in the National Retirement Living Awards to be announced on June 17 at The Star Brisbane as part of the Property Council of Australia’s Retirement Living Summit. The awards celebrate the highest achievements across all areas of the retirement living sector.
