Work has begun on the final stage of The Avenue Maroochydore, offering retirees further options in the luxurious retirement living village only 200m from the water.
The Avenue, on the corner of Baden Powell St and Anzac Ave, is developed by Queensland retirement living operator Aura Holdings. See our listing page for this project here.
Stage two will supply much needed retirement living options with a shortage of independent apartments expected on the Sunshine Coast by 2026.
On completion, The Avenue will provide a total 113 apartments with resort-style living in an enviable location close to shops, restaurants and cafes and medical facilities. Stage one opened in July 2019 with 49 apartments.
Interest is high in the four-storey independent living complex with 20 per cent in the new stage already sold. The heated pool will add to the community facilities in place including a café, gym, billards room, library, wine room and courtyard entertainment areas.
The pet-friendly two and three-bedroom apartments are being built by Woollam Construction on the almost 1ha site that had been home to the Maroochy Swans Bowls Club.
Aura Holdings director Mark Taylor said The Avenue had quickly found favour with retirees and downsizers who were seeking quality retirement living close to the water.
“Retirees on the Sunshine Coast have told us what is important to them and that has been the desire for a very comfortable lifestyle in a safe, welcoming community where they can continue living the independent life they crave with support on hand if needed,’’ Mr Taylor said.
“At The Avenue, all the maintenance is taken care of so residents can just enjoy a beachside lifestyle with support on hand if needed. Give away the mower and forget about cleaning the pool or replacing lightbulbs.
“Our residents feel like they are on holiday every day, strolling down to the waterfront to feel the sand between their toes or catching up with their new friends in the village’s community facilities.’’
Aura Holdings is currently involved in six projects in various stages of development in southeast Queensland, providing high-quality retirement living apartments.
Aura Holdings director Tim Russell said The Avenue was addressing a gap in the market for quality retirement living so near the water in a small connected, supportive community.
“Not only is this retirement community in such a stunning location but it’s a fabulous place to call home, designed for liveability with facilities to enjoy a relaxed, engaged lifestyle,’’ Mr Russell said.
“As a small Queensland-based company we listen to our residents and continue to engage with them into the future. We proudly maintain personal relationships with our residents. Every village is shaped by the people who live there. It is their community so they have an important role to play.’’
The final stage is expected to be completed by late 2020.
Apartments at The Avenue stage two range from $465,000 to $750,000.
