Queensland’s booming Moreton Bay North region – which is one of Australia’s retirement hotspots – has a new entrant with Ingenia Lifestyle announcing the launch of a new $55 million residential development.
The new community – Freshwater by Ingenia Lifestyle – will span across five hectares and deliver 131 new homes for downsizers at East Burpengary.
Ingenia Senior Development Manager Matt Fedrick said construction will soon start on the first stage of homes, as well as a five-home display village, with the first residents expected to move in by early 2020.
According to Australian Bureau of Statistics internal migration statistics released in late August, the Moreton Bay North region had a net population increase of 760 people aged over 65 in 2017-18, due to migration from other parts of Australia.
This was the highest internal migration inflow for any region in Australia, in this age bracket.
Separately, there was a net internal migration increase in the region of some 1,185 people aged 45-64 in 2017-18. This was the sixth highest result in Australia in this age bracket.
“We have been working with the community through focus groups and educational event sessions to ensure that we are building a lifestyle community that the local market can be proud of,” Mr Fredrick said.
“Through our database and recent expos, we have received a number of enquiries about when Ingenia Lifestyle would establish a community on the northside of Brisbane, so we are excited to be able to deliver this new community to meet this demand.”
Mr Fredrick said new homes will start from $335,000 for a two bedroom, two bathroom and single car garage home. He said he expected strong interest in the homes, given there was no stamp duty payable and no entry or exit fees.
The resort-style community will feature a multi-million-dollar clubhouse, which is anticipated to include a gym, heated pool, library, lawn bowling green, cinema, visiting physician consulting rooms, an alfresco barbecue area and a sports bar.
The Freshwater community will be the first of Ingenia Lifestyle’s Star Collection projects in Queensland – a collection of contemporary, resort-style communities.
“Freshwater will be one of three Star Collection Ingenia communities across the South East Coast of Australia offering an affordable luxury lifestyle and home to over 50s,” Mr Fredrick said.
Burpengary was the 4th most searched suburb in Queensland and the 13th most searched across Australia on Downsizing.com.au during 2018/19.
