Swimming pools and clubhouses were the most popular on-site property facilities selected by Downsizing.com.au readers using our powerful online search tool over the last year.
Downsizing.com.au allows its readers to search for key features relating to retirement and over 50s properties, including on-site and nearby facilities, price, bedroom numbers and the level of care offered.

The latest data from Downsizing.com.au, from the 12 months to August 2019, shows the most popular on-site facility, desired by just under a third of our readers, was a swimming pool.
This is hardly surprising, given the fact it is in the Australian DNA to splash around in a pool, particularly to cool off during summer or to do some exercise. Pools are also a great way to sap the energy of visiting grand-children during those long school holiday periods!
The next most popular on-site facility was a recreation centre or clubhouse, which represented almost 17 per cent of searches. Facilities that were regarded as a being a gated complex, or had caravan parking/storage or a café or restaurant, were also high on the ‘most wanted’ list.
These searches represented a higher priority to our readers compared to bowling greens, golf courses or tennis courts.
When it came to nearby facilities, our readers were very keen to find sites which had medical services nearby (comprising just under a third of these types of searches).
Readers were also keen to know whether public transport was nearby (this search made up around 20 per cent of all nearby facility searches over the last year).
Of the possible nearby sporting or recreational facility searches, a golf facility was the most sought-after just ahead of bowling greens.

Banksia Park has a recreation centre and offers caravan parking.
