A long-time Flagstaff Hill Golf Club member has been the first to move into Living Choice Flagstaff Hill, South Australia’s first fully integrated golf course retirement community.
Wendy Butler says she is looking forward to helping to build a strong sense of community at the village and says she is “super-excited” about the new direction her life has taken.
Wendy was not the only one celebrating on the day.
Representatives of local charity Youth Opportunities, which provides leadership programs for youth who need extra support, were over the moon to receive a donation of $100,000 from Living Choice directors Graham Hobbs and Ian Tregoning.
The latest donation takes the combined contributions of Living Choice and the directors’ second company, EDP Hotels, to more than $2 million over the years. These donations have helped support more than 2,000 young South Australians to participate in Youth Opportunities’ leadership programs and set themselves on a positive pathway.
Erin Faehrmann, Chief Executive Officer of Youth Opportunities, said the partnership with Living Choice was a beacon of hope following an unprecedented year of bushfires, COVID-19 and the subsequent economic downturn.
“Our more than 13,000 graduates often talk about our program as being the “sliding doors” moment that save them. In partnership with the community we help them build the resilience to save themselves,” she said.
For Wendy Butler, the prospect of stepping out of her front door and hopping in her new golf buggy to get to the first tee is incredibly exciting.
“I can’t wait! Everyone at Living Choice has been terrific and they have bent over backwards to overcome any hurdles along the way.” Living Choice Flagstaff Hill is pet-friendly and Wendy’s beloved cavoodle, Bella, has taken up residence too.
Flagstaff Hill's first stage comprising 42 villas is currently under construction.
