Downsizers on Brisbane’s southside will soon have a new deluxe retirement living option thanks to a $50 million expansion of the Brookland Retirement Village at Robertson.
Reside Communities has unveiled plans to build 92 architecturally-designed apartments and a new five-star community centre at the village located only 15 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD.
A display suite has just been opened on site to provide local downsizers and their families with a sneak peek of the luxury apartments, which will add to a range of existing villas and apartments.
The new apartments offer the choice of 1, 2 or 3-bedroom floor plans designed to maximise surrounding views and featuring the latest future-proofed inclusions for comfortable living. Prices start at only $395,000.
The resort-style community centre will include a cinema, café, hair salon, private dining room, lounge, bar and a health club with a pool and gymnasium.
Home care services available
A dedicated home care service is available for those needing extra support, together with affordable in-house catering, an emergency call system, allied health partnerships and lifestyle coordinator focused on resident happiness and wellbeing.
Reside Communities CEO Glen Brown said the expansion would help to meet a growing need for premium retirement living options for downsizers in prime south Brisbane suburbs.
“Brookland offers the rare opportunity for people in suburbs such as Robertson, Macgregor, Mount Gravatt, Upper Mount Gravatt, Sunnybank, Sunnybank Hills and Rochedale to move into a modern, purpose-built retirement apartment,” Mr Brown said.
“Many downsizers have spent years living in this region and want to stay in a location they know and love but without all the upkeep and hassle of an older family home,” he said.
“Brookland Retirement Village has a rich history in Robertson, providing low-maintenance, independent living for local retirees since 1984. This expansion will take Brookland’s lifestyle appeal to a whole new level.”
Current Brookland resident Jean Liset has been living in the community for almost three years and says, “you’ll never find a more homely place”.
“My daughter saw the village on the website and she said, ‘Oh mum, it looks so homely and serene.’ I drove through the village gates for the first time and I just thought, ‘It feels like home’.”
The new Brookland apartments offer a wide range of floor plans featuring open-plan living areas, luxury kitchens, ample storage, generous balconies, stone benchtops and quality appliances as standard.
All have been designed for ease of living and mobility. The age-friendly layouts allow for changing needs, with wide hallways and doorways, step-free surfaces, security intercom and a built-in emergency call system.
Brookland is known for its friendly community atmosphere, active social calendar and leafy green surrounds.
The community is close to a wide variety of shopping centres including Westfield Garden City, Sunnybank Plaza and Robertson Village. Sunnybank Private and QEII Jubilee hospitals are only minutes away along with public transport, churches, tennis courts, bowls clubs, hotels, cinemas and parks.
“Brookland is one of Brisbane’s most connected and convenient retirement villages, providing a place to thrive for more than 35 years,” Mr Brown said. “This expansion will add modern apartment living and five-star community facilities in the next exciting chapter for Brookland.”
