A Brisbane-based vertical retirement community - which is the first in Australia to be based on a racecourse - has completed its first stage.
Lendlease has constructed 69 luxury apartments and a masters club and lounge, garden-facing art studio, library and private theatre at its Bernborough Ascot project.
Developed over four stages under an agreement with Brisbane Racing Club (BRC), the $270 million precinct will eventually include around 300 oversized independent living apartments and penthouse style homes along with spectacular city views and resort-style private amenities.
Future stages will include a bowls green, health and wellness studio with a pool, spa, gymnasium and consulting rooms, a rooftop terrace, restaurant and outdoor dining areas.
Bernborough Ascot is located on Doomben racecourse, some seven kilometres from the Brisbane CBD and a short walk from the new Racecourse Village, which offers a range of everyday services such as shopping, dining and health.
A selection of deluxe display apartments is now open for inspection, showcasing views of the lush green racecourse, Gateway Bridge, CBD and surrounding region. Prices start at $647,000 for a two-bedroom apartment and $1.4 million for a penthouse.
Nathan Cockerill, Managing Director of Lendlease Retirement Living, said: “The opening of the first stage is an incredible milestone, setting new standards of luxury retirement living for Brisbane’s inner north-east.”
“Our vision for Bernborough Ascot is to embrace the history, tradition, and legacy of the Doomben Racecourse, and contribute to creating an intergenerational precinct for the Brisbane Racing Club and the broader Ascot community.
“The availability of high-quality retirement living options is an important part of this precinct, creating diversity and the opportunity for locals from the area to downsize close to home in a genuine community setting.
“We’ve welcomed our first residents to the precinct and very much look forward to watching the Bernborough Ascot community grow in the coming months.”
The apartments feature high-quality finishes including state-of-the-art kitchens, stainless steel appliances and ample storage.
The village bus and dedicated concierge service further assist with keeping residents connected to the broader community.
Lendlease offers residents choice when purchasing, including the traditional deferred management fee model with a lower entry price and future exit payment, and a prepaid plan where owners pay no exit fees and retain any capital gain from a future sale.
Brisbane Racing Club chairman Neville Bell said: “The opening of the first stage of Bernborough Ascot is a major milestone for the BRC’s Master Plan, which is transforming the Doomben and Eagle Farm precinct into a premier multigenerational lifestyle precinct for Brisbane.”
“We’re thrilled to see the first stage complete and join Lendlease in wishing a very warm welcome to the community’s first residents.”
