A long-standing not-for-profit retirement living operator has purchased an existing luxury retirement village in Adelaide's eastern suburbs.
Resthaven’s CEO Darren Birbeck announced that his organisation acquired the On Statenborough village on 19 July.
On Statenborough features 134 apartments and retirement living units, set amongst well-maintained gardens. Its website describes it as a "luxuriously appointed and much-awarded retirement living concept", with 60 per cent of the site set aside for open space.
"It is an outstanding retirement living development that complements Resthaven’s existing residential aged care, community and retirement living services in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs," Mr Birbeck said.
"It's also conveniently located just around the corner from Resthaven’s landmark site at 336 Kensington Road, Leabrook."
Mr Birbeck said that, before the sale, members of the Resthaven executive and management team spoke with the residents of On Statenborough.
"The Resthaven team received a warm welcome from the residents of the village, with many remarking upon Resthaven’s professionalism and our reputation as a well-known and trusted organisation," Mr Birbeck said.
"We are proud to offer the current residents of On Statenborough comfort and security in the knowledge that Resthaven is a well-known, trusted organisation with an unwavering commitment to older people in South Australia.’

In 2012, On Statenborough was awarded the ‘Best Senior Living Project in Australia’ (and South Australia) by the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA). The village also won the ‘Best Master Planned Development’ in South Australia.’
Established in 1935, Resthaven is a South Australian not-for-profit aged care community service associated with the Uniting Church in Australia.
