Golf course retirement living is proving a big hit in Queensland, with one operator starting construction on a linkside project in Toowoomba just a month after bringing foward construction on a second project in Brisbane.
Aura Holdings has commenced construction work on its Ninth Middle Ridge project in Toowoomba.
Aura Holdings’ director Tim Russell acknowledged the construction start had been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Despite an unavoidable delay to the start of construction, Aura has continued to be firmly committed to this project. I am thrilled that things are now moving on this exciting project for Toowoomba,’’ he said.
Vegetation and topsoil were removed from the site this week and excavation work will start on Monday, 24 August.
The village is being developed within the existing Toowoomba Golf Club on Rowbotham St, Middle Ridge.
The Ninth Middle Ridge site is adjacent to the course’s ninth hole and will include 79 two, three and four-bedroom apartments, with expansive views over the 55ha parkland golf course.
Residents will enjoy a private, maintenance-free lifestyle in the low-rise development of three and four-storey buildings with community facilities, including a gym, billiards area, wine room, library, craft room, lounge, multi-purpose function room, outdoor entertaining and barbecue areas, and a community bus.
Experienced retirement village builder and home-grown Toowoomba company McNab has been appointed to the project that was designed by Cox Architecture.
McNab senior project manager Dan Rowe said the McNab team was excited to have commenced construction on the highly-anticipated project.
“Having been involved with Aura Holdings and the Toowoomba Golf Club team throughout the planning and design, we are thrilled to see activity occurring on site with local subcontractors and suppliers,’’ Mr Rowe said.
Mr Russell said The Ninth Middle Ridge would provide something very special to Toowoomba set in in the peaceful tree-filled golf course site on the picturesque escarpment of the Great Dividing Range.
“Our residents will overlook 55 hectares of manicured green space and soaring trees instead of rooftops and the Toowoomba Golf Club will be their backyard," he said.
The Ninth will have strong appeal to both golfers and retirees who want to live in such a beautiful, peaceful and secure community of friendly like-minded neighbours.
"Residents can live the independent lifestyle they crave with support on hand delivered to their apartment if needed.
“This is a keenly awaited development for Toowoomba Golf Club members, current residents of Middle Ridge who wish to stay in the prestigious suburb and other retirees who are attracted to Toowoomba’s lifestyle and facilities.’’
Construction is due to be completed by the end of 2022.
Apartments are selling now from $595,000.
In July, Aura brought forward the construction of the second stage of a luxury golf course retirement living community, after securing a solid sales result for the project's first stage.
The final stage of Aura Holding's Somerset project on Brisbane’s 36-hole Indooroopilly Golf Course will provide 88 apartments, including four spacious penthouses, with stunning views across the parkland course.
